The Story of Abhi and Abid

The story of Abhi and Abid is one as old as time itself, a story of love bringing two people from two different cultures, together to celebrate their lives as one. Every wedding is the first step in one of life’s most beautiful and enchanting journeys. Three memorable events served as a colourful triptych for Abhi and Abid’s special occasion, set in the couples dream destination on the Mediterranean island of Malta, incorporating tradition, culture, fun, colour and most importantly, family and friends. The couple left everything in our capable hands from the moment we first had the pleasure of meeting them and we discussed all the exciting plans and ideas for their wedding. Myself and my team were entrusted by the Bride & Groom to make their dreams come true, we were given a colour scheme and then using our creative skills, we put together the most stunning 3 events with amazing floral accents and modern décor.

An Interfaith ceremony
Flowers have been symbols of beauty and love for generations, perfectly accentuated the vast, historic gardens of the Palazzo. Petals were strewn alongside a bold, red carpet, coupled with lined amphoras and a Palazzo which dominated the skyline. Areas of the venue were dotted with flowers which accentuated our white and green theme, helping the garden to pop and the design to flow. All this made the perfect, picturesque backdrop for Abhi and Abid’s gorgeous interfaith ceremony as the Iman joined the couple together in matrimony. To set the right tone for the ceremony we worked closely with the couple, using mood boards to help pinpoint key areas of colour and design.
We settled on a colour scheme and incorporated the floral aspects into the already existing structures and bar tops of the venue. Following the religious ceremony, a vegetarian buffet awaited guests and loved ones. Every dish bursting with colour and flavour, warming hearts and souls. Keeping to Abhi and Abid’s beliefs, we ensured that only non-alcoholic drinks were served; as destination wedding planners we take pride in getting everything right for your special day!

The Sangeet and Mendhi Night
In Sanskrit Sangeet means music while Mehndi refers to the decorative designs drawn on the bride’s wrist, and the darker the colour, the more the husband will love the bride! The Sangeet and Mendhi are traditional aspects of an Indian wedding, and that means bright, vivid colours, dancing and music.
Contrasting with the pearly white of the religious ceremony, bright and vivid colours filled the Sangeet and Mendhi ceremony and added that vibrant atmosphere. In the centre of the room was a fresh, creative floral decoration piece which served as the perfect backdrop for many selfies! The peacock feathers hung delicately from the chandeliers which added a soft touch as the lights glistened against the colourful and traditional evening wear adorned by the guests. To top this feast for the eyes off, multi-coloured glass candle holders and bangles on top of golden trays lay sprinkled across the room. No stone was left unturned as every part of the venue was transformed to create an eye-catching and mesmerizing experience!

Amidst all this splendour, the bride danced her way through – her deeply-coloured and intricate Mehndi catching everyone’s eye – along with her bridesmaids inaugurating the Sangeet’s festivities, with the groom making his grand entrance accompanied by an entourage of dhol drummers flown in especially from the UK! As the Dhol drummers played, the groom and his men delivered a spectacular Baraat; a merry procession which spun and whirled its way all through the villa and out into the gorgeous garden. As the night waned away, family members and close friends of Abhi and Abid began dancing to an array of songs, recounting how the couple met and how they were meant to be together, before Abhi and Abid themselves joined in! Everyone involved watched with excitement and stood in awe; the atmosphere was electric and there was certainly an element of entertainment as the room rang with the sounds of laughter and enjoyment.

With music being the soul of this event, we chose this particular venue as it is situated in the centre of the island; this meant that everyone could enjoy the music up until the early hours of the morning! As destination wedding planners, we always make sure to recommend and follow through with the execution of the right areas for the skit that can accommodate the perfect sized dance floor or stage, paired up with the right lighting, sound and audience space to create that perfect moment.

The Reception Dinner
Taking your decor and floral arrangements to the next level by adding decorative accents, such as strands of pearls, crystals or playful feather plumes help create flare and originality to the decor. Incorporating lush greenery and foliage is another option that we love. As done with Abhi and Abid, certain types of accents can also be used to achieve height to make the centrepieces grand and stand out. Don’t be afraid to get creative and step outside the box!

To round off the celebrations, Abhi and Abid hosted a wonderful reception dinner in one of the most romantic gardens in Malta! A grand floral table centrepiece garnished in stunning pastel pinks and whites, accented with majestic gold candelabras which oozed elegance and class. Modern ghost chairs and a festoon of fairy lights which swathed the dancefloor helped to create that magical fairytale set up. As the sunset, the couple sat back as they enjoyed their relaxing evening knowing that their happily ever after had come true!
Watching this couple go through their three-day wedding celebrations in Malta, whilst they remained relaxed and feeling nothing but joy and happiness, was an absolute pleasure to experience, we wish them all the best and may their love continue to grow each and every year. We worked side-by-side with the couple for the whole experience, from the months spent planning in advance, and then on the day, when Abhi stepped out of her bridal car, to walking down the aisle, saying their I Do’s and until the end of each wedding event. Even with 18 years’ experience, I have seen over 950 brides make the walk and still to this day I feel the emotion and always stand in awe. This is what our service offers. Enjoy your celebrations and let us create your perfect wedding!
