8 Reasons why a wedding planner is the key to a stress-free wedding!

Your Wedding Day is a very special day for us … making it stress-free for you is our main aim as Wedding Planners. Follow our 8 reasons to guide you towards picking the right planner for your big day!
1. The role of a wedding planner
First and foremost, our main aim as wedding planners is to take on board the majority of the ‘workload’ and make the whole experience run smoothly which allows the bride and groom time to personalise their ‘dream day’.
Whenever I have a first meeting or a first chat with potential new clients it is, of course, imperative to explain in detail what the role of a wedding planner is and what we offer as a service to facilitate the planning and the execution of the day from start to finish making the experience for our clients as stress-free as possible.
A good wedding planner must have the full know-how of all the planning involved for the big day. It is not a matter of organising one wedding and believing that you know it all. I have been nearly 20 years running my wedding planning company and still each year my team and I evaluate all the weddings we executed and prepare new business practises to always improve further. I believe the day one thinks they have nothing further to learn, is the day they will stop being successful.
2. Industry Knowledge
A professional wedding planner has the industry knowledge, and this is a great advantage for our clients. We are there to guide the couple to pick and choose the venue and caterer that suits their tastes and budget best, and then create and execute a day which for the couple is their true ‘dream wedding day’.
For most couples this day is their first wedding and so it is easy to feel lost and not sure where to start from, what to look for and how to go about planning their wedding. With the right guidance and advise the planner is there to help coach and direct the clients to pick and choose what is best for them. Even for couples going through their second or third wedding, although they have been through the experience before, they rarely want the same thing again so a planner can help guide them create a different special day including their new requests and yet keeping it classic and traditional.
3. The couple own the Wedding
It is important to always note that the wedding is owned by ‘the couple’ and not by ‘the planner.’
I always tell my clients ‘I have had my special wedding day years ago, so I have picked and chose what I wanted but this is your day not mine. We are here to give you options but at the end of the day it is important you pick what you like best for your day’. A wedding planner should not impose any choices on a couple as this does not create a stress-free environment but will cause more hassle and stress in the long run. A planner is there to give various options within the budget frame that the couple have available and facilitate the planning for it to be enjoyable and fun – not stressful.
4. Benefit from Vendor relationships
A big advantage when picking an established wedding planning company is that the company has a long-lasting business relationship with the vendors and suppliers they work with and recommend to their clients. This not only secures the best suppliers in the industry but also many a time enables the planner to have better preferential rates to offer their clients and provide the vendor loyalty and top service on the day.
5. Switzerland in the Mediterranean
As wedding planners, we are neutral – Switzerland in the Mediterranean What do I mean by this? We do not take sides between the bride and the groom or the parents of the couple. We are here to keep all happy and find a balance between the requests of all. This is often not easy but with experience, this is easier to implement and help the couple find the perfect give and take situation. We like to come up with solutions to appease both sides and keep everyone comfortable and happy.
Remember a wedding planner can help change your dream into a reality. We have the perfect solutions which often can be low in budget but as effective as the perfect Instagramable picture or Pinterest dream photo the couple wish to have. With the right vendors and the right design options all can be achieved.
6. Versed with the latest Trends
Trends change all the time in the wedding industry, and it is the job of the wedding planner to be versed with all that is happening so, in turn, the planner can translate and communicate this to the clients. It is so important to have a wedding that fits the year it is taking place in and not one that looks passé and with an already ‘been there and done that look’. We excel with making sure to guide our clients to always have the new trends in place even if this is just in a small touch of decoration added for example to the dinner set up… sometimes all it takes is a small detail to transform all to perfection.
7. Timelines to keep all in check
Timelines are key to perfect planning. It is the job of the wedding planner to create a checklist for the couple starting from day one leading to the wedding day itself. We like to give our clients their to-do lists in advance detailing their monthly preparations and information accordingly so that nothing is left till the last minute and in turn creating unnecessary stress. When the couple is aware of what needs to be supplied when and how, this makes all so much easier to follow and provide to us, thus leading to a stress-free preparation.
8. Savour the day
One must not forget that apart from the planning from the start leading all the way up to the day itself, the most valuable asset is to have a professional planning team do all the work on the day itself so that the couple, family and friends can enjoy the day to perfection. This is a day where thousands are spent, and it is important that the day is savoured to the full by the couple and their guests. The day goes by in a flash so why hassle with the set-up when you can be enjoying your preparation? Why hassle with the execution during the wedding itself when you should be enjoying the day with your family and friends? And finally the dismantling, the latter of which sometimes goes on till the early hours of the morning once the wedding ends – it is of course not ideal for either the couple or the family or the bridal party to stay on after the wedding day to take care of this – so why not trust this in the hands of your experienced and knowledgeable wedding planning team as part of the service they offer?
Get professionals you can trust to do all this and as I often tell my clients, all you need to do is turn up on time looking pretty and handsome! The word ‘trust’ is very important when picking your wedding planner.
Make sure you feel comfortable with the planner you pick as having a good relationship with your planner and feeling that you are always on the same page is the secret to a successful and stress-free wedding planning time!
